Our Consulting Services

When businesses collect and analyse data, they are usually trying to do one of two things.

  • Understand their world by answering questions as "why are sales falling" or "what is the effect of weather on our business?" By collecting and analysing data, the aim is to draw conclusions that enable them to better understand their markets, customers, products, processes, people, etc.
  • Make a decision based on the data and insights they possess e.g. "should we buy our raw materials now or later?", "which supplier is the best value for money?", "are our products safe to be sold?". By producing forecasts and calculating risks and rewards of certain actions, a business can then make a decision.

Without Statistical thinking and methods, businesses will be more likely to collect irrelevant data, analyse the data using incorrect methods, draw invalid conclusions and make the wrong decisions. However, statistical methods are no panacea if they are not properly aligned with your objectives.

Our greatest strength is our breadth of experience that allows us to understand your objectives and the larger business context that they fit into. We are then able to convert your objectives into statistical objectives and apply many statistical techniques to your data. However, we fully recognise that not everybody is a statistician. Therefore, we are passionate about translating the statistical results into everyday language that can be easily understood by a wide audience. By doing this, we are able to generate actionable insights and decision making tools that endure in your organisation long after we are gone.

All consulting services are personally delivered by the company's founder Nigel Marriott.  He is a Chartered Statistician with more than 15 years experience.
